Learn a little more about us and our story:
Meet Brittany
Brittany is from Albany, NY and completed her undergraduate degree in bioengineering at Syracuse University. She has experience in orthopedic medical device design and bone cement research. She's excited to explore retinal surgery during her time at Aravind. As an avid fan of puns, her favorite eye pun is "this joke could not be any cornea."
Meet Dan
Dan is from New Jersey and obtained his bachelor's in biomedical engineering from the University of Rochester. His focus for his undergraduate degree was in biomechanics. Dan is exploring surgical treatment of cataracts during his time at Aravind. He is investigating both the phaco and small incision techniques.
Meet Krithik
Krithik's hometown is Newburgh, Indiana. He obtained his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering at Georgia Tech. His focus was on biomechanics and has experience in the start-up environment. During his time at Aravind, he's excited to be exploring glaucoma.
Meet Joshua
Joshua joins the team from Singapore. He obtained his undergraduate degree at the National University of Singapore in biomedical engineering and worked in the neuroscience space post-graduation. He has experience in clinical trials and new product development for neurosurgery. He will be investigating retina treatment during his time at Aravind.
Meet Nick
Nick is from Dallas, Texas and attended Rice University for a bachelor's degree in bioengineering. He has experience in tissue engineering research and engineering design, with a focus in electronics prototyping. While at Aravind, he'll be taking a deep dive into the current standard of care for glaucoma.
Meet Namratha
Namratha is from Seattle, WA and obtained her undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering at the University of Washington. She has experience in neonatal and global health design as well as biomateirals. She is investigating cataract care during her time at Aravind.
And last but not least... Meet Allie!
Allie is from Ellicott City, Maryland and not on the CBID master's team but completed her undergraduate degree in BME at Johns Hopkins in 2017. She is now a second year medical student at Johns Hopkins . She is exploring how to make small incision cataract surgery easier for trainees during her time at Aravind.
